Judge In Phone Hacking Case Warns Inquiry Could Take More Than One Year, Dismisses Critics (Yahoo! News / The Cutline)
The British judge overseeing an inquiry into News International's phone hacking scandal has warned that the widening investigation could take up to one year or more. Yahoo! News / The Cutline: First it was Milly Dowler, the 13-year-old girl who was abducted in 2002 and later found dead. Now there appears to be evidence that News of the World may have hacked a phone belonging to Sara Payne, whose eight-year-old daughter, Sarah, was murdered in 2000. guardian.co.uk: The evidence that police have found in investigator Glenn Mulcaire's notes is believed to relate to a phone given to Payne by former editor Rebekah Brooks to help her stay in touch with her supporters. Brooks insisted Thursday night that the phone had not been a personal gift, but had been provided to Payne by News of the World "for the benefit of the campaign for Sarah's law." HuffPost: Payne grew so close to the paper, and to Brooks, that she wrote a column for its final issue, paying tribute to its campaign. "The NOTW team supported me through some of the darkest, most difficult times of my life and became my trusted friends," she wrote. "One example of their support was to give me a phone to help me stay in touch with my family, friends, and support network, which turned out to be an absolute lifeline."

Current TV CEO Mark Rosenthal Exits Amid Network's Attempt To Transform (AdAge / MediaWorks)
Current TV CEO Mark Rosenthal is leaving the company after two years in the post and six as Current board member. Joel Hyatt, Current's co-chairman and co-founder, will reclaim the CEO title, a position he held prior to Rosenthal's appointment. LA Times / Company Town: Al Gore's struggling cable channel, Current TV, witnessed an inconvenient truth: It has trouble keeping executives. Adweek: Sources close to Current TV say that the departure of Rosenthal comes two months after Hyatt took the position of co-CEO alongside Rosenthal in a move that was never publicly announced. While Current says Rosenthal's departure was a mutually agreed-upon decision, sources close to the network say that in fact it was Rosenthal who decided to leave, in response to the previously unforeseen challenge of having to govern the network alongside someone else, although those same sources says the parting itself was amicable.

Can News Publishers Learn Anything From Netflix? (GigaOM)
Users of Netflix's digital movie-rental service have been up in arms about a sudden change to the company's pricing plans, which appears to be aimed at reducing demand for its DVD-by-mail service by jacking up prices. In other words, Netflix is trying to manage the transition of users away from the physical product and toward digital streaming. Are there any lessons newspapers and other media companies can learn as they try to move away from the physical print product and toward a digital-only future?

  1. hai,
This is a great resource and very thorough! Great article. No doubt I enjoy the security a static site offers but I must say the only thing I miss about wordpress is the plugins that I used to use. I’m happy a colleague put me onto Ink for All, it has markdown export functionality. It also helps out with Search Engine Optimization: https://seo.app/XzTXZsUH9
